		<description>the whole national day fiasco is really just civil religion. and it works, unfortunately... i don&#039;t think it&#039;s a bad thing necessarily, but i don&#039;t like how it conflates nation with political party and government...... something very sneaky and hypocritical about that. 

you know who&#039;s the best prophet for the system? Jack Neo. just watch his latest movie and you&#039;ll be inflicted with more conflated familial--patriotic guilt than if you were tied to the chair and made to watch a dozen replays of the national day parade. 

i don&#039;t particularly have anything against Neo (other than his bad movies), but since you mentioned the N&#039;day themes it just recalled me to the fact that our SM once commended him for being an honest &quot;critic&quot;... or something along those lines, during a national day speech.</description>
